Preventing Blocked Access in Busy Workshops

Automotive parts plants often have carts, racks, pallets, toolboxes and moving equipment. Emergency shower and eyewash stations must not be blocked by temporary storage. Floor markings can define the clear access zone. Signs should be high enough to remain visible behind machines and production materials. If forklifts operate nearby, barriers may be used to protect the station from impact without blocking worker access.

Routine inspection should include spray heads, bowls, valves, handles, water flow and physical damage. Workers should know the nearest station in their specific work area, not just the general factory location. During new employee training, safety managers can include a short walk-through of emergency equipment locations.
